Points of law

1) Service of proceedings on a foreign State must be done through the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that State;

2) The seizure and removal of property by a State-owned entity of a foreign State on the orders of that foreign State, in the context of an armed invasion of another State, was an act in the exercise of sovereign authority;

3) The subsequent retention and use of that property by the State-owned entity, following a formal legislative act vesting the property in the entity, were not acts in the exercise of sovereign authority.
